It is one of the moments in the Gospels where the Trinity can be seen, and where the Father claims Jesus Christ as His son; “ and [Jesus] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven, said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew b).

God the Father reiterates this overt claim of a father-son. According to the New Testament, the key identity of Jesus Christ is that He is the Son of God. This is seen in the importance of the need to understand, confess, and believe this about Jesus in the following verses. The Apostle John had the distinction of being a beloved friend of Jesus Christ, writer of five books of the New Testament, and a pillar in the early Christian church.

John and his brother James, another disciple of Jesus, Christ fishermen on the Sea of Galilee when Jesus called them to follow him. The phrase "the disciple whom Jesus loved" or, in Johnthe disciple beloved of Jesus is used six times in the Gospel of John, but in no other New Testament accounts of Jesus.

John states that the Gospel of John is based on the written testimony of this disciple. Since the end of the first century, the Beloved Disciple has been commonly identified with John the Evangelist.

Scholars have debated the. At the Jordan river, Jesus heard His Father say to Him, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased” (Luke ).

Later, in the wilderness, Jesus heard the devil say to Him, “If You are the Son of God ” (Luke ). Notice that the devil not only questioned Jesus’ sonship, but he also dropped the word “beloved” when he said to Jesus, “If You are the Son of God ”.

Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible.

In the New Testament of the Christian Bible, "Son of God" is applied to Jesus on many occasions. Jesus is declared to be the Son of God on two separate occasions by a voice speaking from Heaven. Jesus is explicitly and implicitly described as the Son of God by himself and by various individuals who appear in the New Testament.

God is well pleased with Christ for this. (1) The obedience of the Son pleases the Father. If, like Christ, we delight to do God's will, he will delight in us. (2) The good pleasure of God signifies his approval of Christ's work. This mission of saving the world that Christ has just consecrated himself to is well-pleasing to God.

Summary. While the expression “son of man” occurs frequently in the OT as a synonym for “man,” the book of Daniel also uses it to refer to the coming divine ruler who will be given authority and a kingdom by God; both of these usages form the background of the Jesus’s own self-designation as the Son.

Adam is said to be the son of God (Luke ). Those who hear the voice of the Son of God shall live (John ). Paul had faith in the Son of God (Gal. Son of God has no beginning or end (Heb. The Son of God appeared to destroy the works of the devil (1 John ).

Believing in the Son of God so that you may have eternal life (1. John, the Disciple Whom Jesus Loved. The New Testament writings associated with John the Beloved present him as both a teacher and a model for our own discipleship.

After Peter, John is perhaps the best known of Jesus’s original Twelve Apostles. He and his brother, James, were with Peter at some of the most important moments of the Savior’s mortal ministry, and he has been traditionally associated with. Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh (Romans ).

He not only opened the Age of Grace, but also initiated a new age in which God came personally into the human world to live alongside man. With great adoration, the men who followed Him called the Lord Jesus as Christ, the Son of God.

At that time, the Holy Spirit also bore witness to the fact that the Lord Jesus is the beloved Son of God, and. Only Jehovah is “God Almighty.” (Genesis ) He is the greatest and most powerful person in the universe.

—See Endnote Why does the Bible say that Jesus is “the image of the invisible God”. 13 Jehovah and his Son, Jesus, worked closely together for billions of years before the heavens and the earth were created. They must have loved each other very much. That is to say, Jesus was the Messiah because He was the Son of God.

(3) Trial before Sanhedrin. There is another passage where it is frequently contended that "the Christ" and "the Son of God" must be exactly parallel, but a close examination suggests the reverse.

The word Paul used when he said, “God sent forth his Son” (Galatians ), is the same word he uses two verses later: “And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba. Father!’” (Galatians ). In the same way that God sent Jesus into our broken world to save us, he sent the Spirit into our sinful hearts to make us his sons and daughters.

The word beloved is also used repeatedly throughout the New Testament. A notable use of the word is at the baptism of Jesus. In this scene, all three Persons of the Trinity are revealed. God the Father speaks to the Son from heaven: “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew ; Mark ; Luke ).

My identity in Christ is as accepted, beloved, treasured child of God. And as Romans 8 so beautifully puts it, nothing can ever separate me from that glorious love of God.

#4. My Identity In Christ As Free. Because I am a new creation in Christ, my old self that was enslaved to the power of sin is dead. Paul puts it this way in Galatians 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life in Christ Jesus, 2 To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as did my forefathers, as I constantly remember you night and day in my prayers. The most common identification of this character is drawn from an early tradition, which holds that the beloved disciple was an actual individual known as John, the son of Zebedee, a disciple of Jesus.

This theory also identifies the son of Zebedee as the author of the Gospel of John.
